We exist for these 3 reasons...

Scripture teaches that caring for the poor is a fundamental expression of faith, urging believers to share their resources and extend genuine compassion. By fulfilling this responsibility, we embody the heart of our spiritual calling and become agents of hope for those in need.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
James 2: 15-16

We desire to be the conduit between food from donations, corporations, and large organizations to prevent food waste to the people who need it.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.
Matthew 25:35-36

Our heart is to inspire servant leadership. The goal is to equip people to use their God-given abilities to serve the Lord. Whether students or adults, youth groups, or businesses - we are all called to serve and love our neighbors.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Mark 10:45

Our Mission

Hope Food Pantry is a volunteer-based, non-profit in Sioux Center, Iowa. We are a group of servant-hearted people who care deeply for the people of Sioux County and are committed to restoring hope in the community. Our main form of service is providing free grocery services to those living under the federal poverty line. By combining immediate relief with education and community building, we strive to create lasting change and a brighter future for every family we serve. We invite anyone who shares our mission to join us. Whether as a volunteer or donor, together we can ensure no neighbor in Sioux County goes hungry.

Our Inspiration

"In 2011, while on a mission trip, the Lord placed a burden on my heart. The burden was for those who might need a little extra help to get through life’s hard spots. The answer to this call led to my acceptance to coordinate Hope Food Pantry. Through the years, the Holy Spirit revealed further areas of need. Those areas include clothing, housewares and most importantly, a ministry time for all ages. Volunteers and guests alike have been blessed through the pantry. In all that we do, it is our desire to spread the Gospel and point to grace and hope."
- Marianne Sjaarda, Director
